Public Search and Transparency
Public access
The KIMS database is publicly accessible at udiportal.mfds.go.kr. Anyone can search for:
- Device name and manufacturer
- 품목허가 / 품목신고 number
- Device grade
- UDI / DI information
- Recall history
- Adverse event summary (where publicly disclosed)
Why transparency matters
- Healthcare facilities — verify a device has a valid Korean authorisation before purchasing
- Patients — look up information about a device used in their care
- Distributors — confirm product compliance status
- MFDS — conduct targeted market surveillance using product traceability data
