When NBTC Review Is Required
Medical devices incorporating any radio frequency communication technology require a separate approval from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) before commercial supply in Thailand.
This approval is completely independent of the Thai FDA/MDCD registration process and must be obtained as a separate process.

NBTC Approval Process
The NBTC process typically requires:

- Technical specification documentation — frequency bands used, power output, modulation
- Application submission to NBTC
- NBTC approval issued — certificate or approval letter

- ETSI EN standards (European)
- FCC standards (US) — in many cases accepted with Thai-specific modifications
- IEC/CISPR standards for EMC
