CBPF Certificate — Validity & Renewal
The CBPF (Certificado de Boas Práticas de Fabricação) issued by ANVISA or state VISA has a defined validity period that varies by device class and certificate type — typically 2–5 years.
Renewal process:
- Apply for renewal via Peticionamento Eletrônico before the certificate expires.
- ANVISA schedules a renewal inspection (or document review for lower-risk manufacturers).
- Any non-conformities found must be corrected.
- Upon satisfactory resolution, ANVISA issues a new CBPF.
A lapsed CBPF means the manufacturer cannot legally manufacture Class II, III, or IV devices in Brazil, and registered devices cannot be legally imported or distributed. ANVISA automatically suspends product registrations if the CBPF is not renewed before expiration, and the suspension remains in effect until a new CBPF is obtained and provided to ANVISA.
